Quality of Top Tail is guaranteed
Walk through any pet food store and you'll be astounded by the number of different brands of dog food on the shelves. How does the consumer find his way in this myriad of manufacturers? How can he tell whether the food is any good? Is it a cheap and nasty kibble dressed up in an attractive bag or is it really as good as the claims printed on the outside?
But wait ... there's hope! One way of making sure that the food is as good as it says on the bag is to look for the logo of the Pet Food Industry Association of Southern Africa (PFI). Here's how the PFI describes itself on its website:
The PFI is a non-profit body formed by pet food manufacturers, dedicated to upholding quality standards that ensure the nutritional well-being of household pets. Representative of 62% of the pet food market in South Africa, each member commits to manufacture and market food that meets internationally accepted standards as set out in Act 36 of 1947. The Department of Agriculture's regulatory authority manages Act 36.
Pet food is randomly and regularly purchased by the PFI, and submitted for independent analysis. If the food does not meet the registered requirements, the manufacturer is reported to the Registrar of Act 36 for legal action.
So the PFI is the "watch dog" over the industry and this ensures that your watch dog gets the best ... all the time. Our advice is: "If it doesn't show the PFI logo, steer clear of it." Top Tail is a proud full member of the PFI.
Also, few people realise the meaning of the word "premium" in relation to dog food. A manufacturer cannot call his food "premium" if it has not been classified as such. Offering pet owners throughout South Africa dog food of exceptional quality, at an affordable price, is our mission. We continuously aim to exceed the expectations of our customers. How? Our dog food is made from the highest quality ingredients in an excellent manufacturing facility to ensure unsurpassed nutrition and digestibility without compromising affordability.
