How our deliveries work

One of the challenges of running an online store is delivering the customers' purchases fast, efficiently and affordably. The Top Tail Direct shop is no exception. This page explains how it works, the costs and solutions we have devised to work around the challenges.

Top Tail uses Fastway Couriers to deliver its dog food. Full details about their service can be found here.

All courier companies in South Africa use a system whereby the country is divided into regions and different rates apply depending on the region from where the package is shipped as well as its destination region. For example: if we ship a 30 kg Top Tail combo from our depot in Roodepoort to Germiston (a distance of 50 km) ) it will cost R49.45 (incl). This is because the destination falls in the same region as our depot.  If we ship that same parcel to Krugersdorp a mere 5 km away, it will cost R95.45 (incl) because it falls in a different region. Strange but sadly true! But we have a clever solution for this. Read on.

We have 4 delivery solutions for you!

• If you wish you can pick up from our centrally situated depot in Wilro Park, Roodepoort and pay no extra charges.
• We will deliver FREE in a radius of 10 km around our depot. Again - no charge.
• If you fall outside of the FREE radius, we do deliveries on a Tuesday and Thursday for a flat rate of R40 (incl).
• Shipping by courier: On checkout the shipping charges will be calculated based on your destination postal code that you enter.

We are confident that, if you live in Gauteng, the courier fees should be acceptable to you. However, deliveries outside of Gauteng can become a bit expensive. View detailed rates here. In all instances you will pay the rates in the frequent user column of the table that we have negotiated with Fastway.
